The Global Linkages Lab at Brown University’s Department of Economics is premier research initiative dedicated to advancing frontier work on globalization and international linkages. We invite applications for a one-year, full-time Pre-Doctoral Research Associate position in international economics, finance, and trade. Directed by Professor Şebnem Kalemli-Özcan, the Lab offers a uniquely focused, data-intensive environment that goes beyond comparable programs. Pre-docs work directly with several faculty on frontier projects—global production, trade and finance networks, dollar dominance, policy spillovers, capital misallocation, geopolitics and international economic linkages, and green-transition finance—using state-of-the-art micro-linked global datasets housed in our dedicated Data Center. The position provides hands-on mentorship, co-authorship opportunities, and a clear pipeline to top Ph.D. programs. As a hub for cutting-edge research and global policy dialogue, the Global Linkages Lab combines academic rigor with relevance, offering pre-docs an unparalleled platform to shape the next generation of international macro-finance scholarship. Applicants with strong quantitative and programming skills who intend to pursue graduate study in international economics are strongly encouraged to apply.
